While in Jamaica I was fortunate enough to do a small editorial piece for AARP Magazine about retired Americans volunteering for the Peace Corps.  It was really interesting to learn about the Peace Corps retirement program, and the volunteer’s work in teaching anti-bullying classes in schools in Kingston. Keep it up Dorothy!

I’ve been chatting with this guy over the past week or so while he is cementing something near where I am staying.  He’s a really nice, kind man.  One day I asked him about his hat and he says it keeps the sun away, and he makes a new one every day.  I thought it looked cool so I took a pictures.  Maybe I will start wearing one when I get home and start a trend? I’ve also been sick that last few days.  Man I hate being sick!  Especially when it’s 100 inside and everyone outside is having a good time.  My room is about 15 feet from a major street.  Major street in JA means loud dancehall from about 10am to 3am.  I love dancehall, don’t get me wrong, but it’s hard to sleep to. Anyway, I’m feeling much better today and I am going to walk up to a waterfall near me and then take some portraits around the neighborhood. Did I mention I hate being sick?  I hate slowing down.  AND I hate runny noses… Sam Diephuis
